How laser therapy reduces pain
Not into needles? We have options.
Laser therapy is the latest technology I’ve added to the practice because I’ve had many patients ask me for alternative ways to reduce pain. Patients didn’t want to become dependent on pain pills or steroid injections so I had to dig around to find the perfect technology.
To me, the perfect technology is one that offers little to no downtime, minimizes trauma and promotes natural healing rather than scar tissue. Laser therapy was the answer.
Laser therapy uses a light source to induce change at the cellular level, a process called photobiomodulation. Not only does this specific low light energy reduce inflammation through a complicated process within the mitochondria, it also
reduces scar tissue
induce analgesia
improves vascular activity
increases metabolic activity
improves nerve function
accelerates tissue grown & collagen formation
I currently use the Remy Laser which is an FDA cleared Class IV laser that helps reduce pain, inflammation, swelling, and also speeds up healing of diabetic foot ulcers and skin incisions after surgery.
What you can expect from laser therapy is a warm, soothing sensation during treatment that is quick and painless.
