Frequently Asked Question
-
KeryFlex uses a medical-grade resin applied to the nail, similar to dental bonding. This resin creates a flexible, durable, and natural-looking artificial nail that adheres to the existing nail bed. After hardening under UV light, the KeryFlex nail is shaped and polished to match the natural appearance of the nail.
-

Immediate Results: Patients leave with a restored nail in one visit.

-
A KeryFlex nail typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks before requiring reapplication. Growth rates vary per individual, and maintenance visits help keep the restored nails looking natural and healthy.
-
KeryFlex is ideal for individuals with:
Toenail damage from trauma
Mild to moderate nail fungus (onychomycosis)
Brittle, ridged, or discolored nails
Issues with nail growth due to injury or other conditions
-
KeryFlex is not recommended for individuals with:
Severe or uncontrolled nail fungus
Peripheral vascular disease
Peripheral neuropathy
Certain autoimmune conditions
-
A KeryFlex nail is not affected by acetone, nail polish, or detergents. You can apply nail polish right after the KeryFlex sealant is cured and the dispersion film is removed with alcohol.
However, gel nail polishes, topcoats, or other nail products that require UV or LED light may compromise the integrity of the KeryFlex nail and should be avoided.
-
NO, KeryFlex cannot be applied to a toe without any natural nail. For proper application, at least 15% of the natural nail is required, as KeryFlex does not adhere to skin.
-
YES, you can use KeryFlex with topical antifungal treatments. While KeryFlex does not treat fungal nails, you can apply antifungal medication around the cuticle. Just avoid applying it directly on the nail or under the free edge, as KeryFlex is non-porous.
-
YES, KeryFlex can be applied immediately after laser therapy and in between treatments. However, it is not recommended to use laser therapy over a KeryFlex nail.
-
NO, KeryFlex is designed with ingredients to protect against sun damage and yellowing.
However, there have been reports of ocean water combined with excessive UV exposure (such as sunbathing) causing KeryFlex nails to lose their pigment and turn white. While these results are rare and have not been consistently observed, it’s something to keep in mind.
-
Shoes that cause friction against the KeryFlex nail may lead to chipping, cracking, or weakening its integrity. It's best to wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes to help maintain the durability of the KeryFlex nail.
-
KeryFlex nails may lift within the first 3 days after application, especially when only a small portion of the natural nail is present.
In rare cases, a KeryFlex nail may detach due to repeated trauma, such as with long-distance running. This can also happen if the nail has a small natural segment or if the edge of the KeryFlex nail extends beyond the tip of the toe.
-
For physically active individuals, it's important to keep the KeryFlex nail short and ensure it doesn't extend beyond the tip of the toe. Repeated trauma can shorten the lifespan of the KeryFlex nail, and more frequent reapplication may be needed.

KeryFlex Nail Restoration Aftercare
At Pacific Point Podiatry, we want your KeryFlex nail restoration to last and maintain its beautiful, natural appearance. To achieve the best results, it's important to follow proper aftercare guidelines. Here’s what you need to know:
1. Avoid Trauma & Friction
Physical Activities: If you are physically active, be mindful of repetitive activities that could cause friction or impact on the KeryFlex nail, such as running or wearing tight shoes.
Footwear: Always wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes to avoid putting stress on your nails. A KeryFlex nail should not extend beyond the tip of the toe to minimize the risk of damage.
2. Keep Your Nails Short
When active, keep your KeryFlex nails short and ensure they don’t extend beyond the tip of your toe. This reduces the likelihood of trauma and helps maintain the nail’s integrity.
3. Protect from Sun Exposure
KeryFlex nails are designed to resist sun damage, avoid prolonged exposure to intense sunlight, as well as ocean water and UV rays, which could cause the nail to lose pigment or turn white.
4. Limit Extended Water Exposure
Avoid soaking your feet in water for long periods, such as in hot tubs, pools, or when soaking your feet for an extended time. Prolonged exposure to water may weaken the bond of the KeryFlex nail.
5. Plan for Regular Maintenance
KeryFlex nails typically last 6-8 weeks before they need replacement. We recommend scheduling a follow-up appointment to remove and reapply the nail to keep it looking fresh and beautiful.
6. Address Lifting or Cracking Promptly
If you notice any signs of lifting, cracking, or detachment, especially within the first few days, don’t hesitate to contact us for follow-up care. Early attention can help prevent further issues and maintain the durability of the KeryFlex nail.
